Virtual Credit Advancement Placement

The Virtual Credit Advancement Program (VCAP) is now and extension on the Columbus Online Academy. We are excited to present the continued renovation of the Virtual Credit Advancement Program. VCAP has been redesigned, utilizing refreshed learning measures with a focus on accountability and integrity. VCAP offers opportunities for all CCS students to complete courses through a district-approved online platform supported by highly qualified teachers. Teachers are available in person during the prescribed times identified by the high school (i.e., optional afterschool labs, scheduled VCAP period, etc.). To engage with VCAP, all students must be enrolled in the Columbus City Schools district.

Summer VCAP

Summer VCAP is the high school credit recovery program for Columbus City Schools. Overseen by the Virtual Credit Advancement Program (VCAP), rising 10-12th grade students who need to complete or continue coursework toward graduation are able to do so this summer. VCAP Students will work with licensed CCS teachers using Edmentum in a structured, in‑person model across 16 high school sites.

Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment of VCAP Participation

The parent or guardian's signature, now located in the district’s Guide to Student Success on page 22, will serve as formal acknowledgment of the student’s enrollment in the VCAP and their intent to earn course credit through Edmentum Courseware.

This systematic one-time signature confirms that the parent or guardian understands and accepts the expectations, requirements, and responsibilities associated with participation in the VCAP program. It also affirms their awareness that successful completion of Edmentum coursework may result in the awarding of academic credit.

This acknowledgment is mandatory and must be on file prior to the student earning any VCAP credit.
